Essay
I have researched the sites of the causes and the effects of the Cuban Missile Crisis for the days of Friday and Monday and found three good sites.  http://www.markedbyteachers.com/gcse/history/the-cuban-missile-crisis-causes-and-consequences.html, in this site it says that this event was the closest there was to becoming a nuclear war, but was stopped but great things came to the effects to Cuba, in May 17, 1960 US made a broadcasting station so they would overthrow Castro. And then the US controlled all the oil in Cuba, and then stopped the process of making oil in Cuba which paralyzed their economy as well as their energy source. And in 1980 the US stopped the trade of sugar to them which cut their supplies down 80%, which weakened their economy even more.

In the site http://www.johndclare .net/cold_war16.htm, Khrushchev lost prestige and china broke from Russia. But Kennedy lost prestige, he was considered as the people who faced down on Russians. Both sides were also scared and are more careful now, and had set up a “hot line” to talk directly to one another during a crisis. And in 1963 there was an agreement on a Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. And Cuba was the beginning of the end of the Cold War. Cuba remained a communist dictatorship, and America left it as it is.

And in the site http://www.buzzle.com/articles/causes-and-effects-of-the-cold-war.html, both the United States of America and the Soviet Union built up huge arsenals of atomic weapons and ballistic missiles. A group named NATO and the Warsaw Pact were made it lead to violent fights like the Vietnam and Korean War. And the Soviet Union fell for bad economy. Later the Berlin Wall fell and the both German sides were united again. And America was considered the sole power of the world. Later communism fell around the world.

The Origin of this site was http://www.glynn.k12.ga.us/~pwilliam/BHS/academics/junior/luko/2005/ashleyt13513f.htm, created by an 11th grader for an English project in November 2005. Who was helped by his advanced U.S History Teacher.

The purpose of this paper is to get a good grade from his English Teacher, and to show and tell him how was the Cuban Missile crisis, and what was happening during the crisis. And who and what were doing during this time.

The value of this paper is to tell people what was happening during the missile crisis, and how it started as well and the consequences because of all this. And how well this student knew of the crisis and how much information he could put down.

The limitations of this paper is that the paper is too short, so he probably just put a little bit of information and probably not even put the important information either. Plus the teacher he got the information from was a senior in high school at the time.

The 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis

For my Junior Project I interviewed my Advanced U.S History teacher Mr. Ervin. He was willing to tell me about The Cuban Missile Crisis. Mr. Ervin was a senior in high school during this time.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis John F. Kennedy was president.  In September John F. Kennedy and the Congress issued warnings to USSR that the U.S will deal harshly with any threats to National Security. On October 14, 1962 U2 recon flew over Cuba spots sites installing nuclear missiles. October16-22, 1962 President Kennedy notified, secret deliberations on what should have been done, and Kennedy told the nation his plan for blockade and quarantine. October 23, 1962 naval quarantine begins and successfully changes the course of many Soviet ships. October 25, 1962 Kennedy lets it pass. Adlai Stevenson dares the Soviet Ambassador to admit to the existence of missile when the Soviet Ambassador refuses. Stevenson wheeled out pictures of the missile sites. October 26, 1962 Soviet Union raises possibility for a deal that,” if they with draw missiles will America promise not to invade Cuba?”

Oct.27, 1962 Soviets demand that America also withdraw missiles from Turkey. Kennedy also tells Khrushchev that he will accept the proposal of October 26, Kennedy tells his brother to tell Soviet Ambassador that though the Turkey missiles would not be part of the bargain; they would be removed in time. Oct. 28, 1962 USSR agrees to withdraw missiles. Soviet Union motivation was to close the missile gap and they were far behind in numbers of missiles with the U.S. Verbal threats no longer affected with evidence of U.S superiority and Protect Cuba.
The U.S has missiles pointing at Soviet Union , but they were unable to use the missiles. American motivation happened in September when John F. Kennedy had stated that the Congress passed a resolution saying that if the Soviet Union placed offensive weapons in Cuba U.S would not tolerate it. Warns U.S gave to Soviet Union 1) Threat to attack Cuba and blow up missile.2) Blockades over Cuba 500 miles and check every ship that came in. Blockade was not required for instant killing. 3) Threaten to blow up missile area. 4) Go to war against Soviet Union.
Mr. Ervin said he was a senior in high school during this time. He said, “There were many trains in Brunswick that were heading to northern part of Florida with guns. There were soldiers on some trains too.” He remembered that they were heading to Miami Beach. Which at the time Mr. Ervin said,” they had bobbed wire around Miami Beach.” Mr. Ervin said he remembered his father saying,” My God we are close to having a nuclear war.” He also said that back in this time parents and their kids didn’t talk about war and politics. When Mr. Ervin was thinking back on this, he was making it seem like it was along time ago, but he remember it like it was yesterday. As I was talking about the Cuban Missile Crisis with him, his wife was talking about it too. She remembered it like it was yesterday also. The nation was scared that the Soviet Union was going to bomb the U.S.

The interview with Mr. Ervin was wonderful, because the way he tells me about history makes me want to learn more about it. I learned more about the Cuban Missile Crisis than I ever knew. I have learned more than I ever knew about this because I did not know anything about the Cuban Missile Crisis before this project. I learn a little more than I already knew about Mr. Ervin. I would say a person never knows a person until they really talk and get to know them, but Mr. Ervin looks like he has been through many  interesting invents in his life time. I rate this interview a positive.

Extinct Animal

The Asiatic lions comen a on wild pigs , cattle, antelope, and deer in the wild. but in the zoo they eat rabbits , chickens, and heart, about 3-4 kilos of meat six out of seven days, they only eat meat. Their habitats are tropical dry forest , tropical grassland, desserts and semi-desserts.

Their scientific names are Panthera leo persicus, live in India , their continent Asia.

Description: Asiatic lions have a shaggier coat than their African counterparts, and both sexes have a distinctive fold of skin that runs along the belly. They have a longer tassel of hair on the end of the tail and longer tufts of hair on the elbows. Males are 1.7-2.5 m long and weigh 150-250 kgs while females are 1.4-1.75m in length and weigh in at 120-182 kgs. Like all cats they are equipped with powerful, retractable claws and long sharp canine teeth that are used to pull their prey to the ground.

Lifestyle: Like African lions, hunting is a cooperative affair but adult males rarely participate. If vegetation is sparse, hunting usually takes place at night, but where it is thick, it may also take place during the day. The lions use stealth to approach their prey and then charge and either grab or knock it down before it outruns them. Only one in about four charges end successfully. Lions are inactive for most of the day, spending up to 20 hours per day resting or sleeping.
Conservation news: The Asiatic lion was once found in Eastern Europe, Turkey, the Middle East and most of India. It became extinct in Europe around 100 A.D. and in Palestine around the time of The Crusades. It remained widespread until the time of the advent of firearms in the mid 1800s, which led to widespread extinction through hunting as a sport. In 1900, the Nawab of Junagadh, the local ruler, declared the few remaining lions of the Gir Forest in India protected animals. The Nawab told everyone that there were only 20 remaining to prevent people from going to the Gir to hunt them. The population was estimated to be around 100 between 1968 and 1979 but is now thought to be more than double this. However, the forest is now approaching the limit of the number of lions that it can support and other safe havens for Asiatic lions in India are sorely needed. One suggested location is the Barda Hills near Porbandar. The Gir Forest is a dry deciduous forest in Gujarat, western India. Its wildlife sanctuary is 545 square miles with only the central 100 square miles completely protected as a National Park. About 7,500 Maldhari people and their 14,000 cattle live in the Forest Sanctuary, with a further 160,000 people and 100,000 cattle living within six miles of the Sanctuary. As there are so few Asiatic lions, it is necessary to manage the captive and wild populations if the species is to recover. It is essential to ensure that all the lions are pure bred and that pairs are not closely related to one another. Bristol Zoo Gardens is actively involved in this programme.

Part 5 Reflect learning

1)   I learned that donating Isn't gonna get you much money by just asking for the money. Unless you are giving something in return they won't give much. From asking for donations all I got was a penny, but from selling candy and all that stuff I got 26 dollars fast so you gotta offer something in return for their money or you just get squat. In order to complete something you gotta change some things and adapt to keep earning what you gotta earn. Doing the same thing every time will lose it's touch and wear out and will no longer work, so I'll keep adapting to continue making money.
112 Words

2)    Well the new understanding is to sell to people next to you were you work and live because those people know you they will feel more confident to buy from you than a total stranger plus once they know you are selling they will most likely bring money tomorrow to buy from you what ever you are selling , plus temptation to buy stuff always get's to everyone. To sell things sell to your friends and neighbors because they will have a hard time saying no, plus they know you so they know you will ask again if they want to buy your merchandise, and stuff. So sell to people you know and you will have a 75% chance of selling your products.

3) I give myself a 89% on all my work it's not so good and it's not bad it's a medium on my grade it's not so achieving but it says I didn't just do nothing like I didn't give a crap that I still worked hard on it. That I'm selling chocolate and candy, to give the money to Ms. Castellano and I’m not keeping any of the profit nor spending any of it on myself, or on anybody at all. Next time I’m gonna collect money for something and have a lot of time to collect it I will start collecting emmideatly not after a huge gap of time and pass my goal way before it reaches half the time to finish and turn in the money.

4) The skill of what people like to buy on most so i went with what most people like to spend on the most or at least one of the top ten selling candy, so pretty much I learned to tempt people to buy my candy, their sweet tooth gave in and I started making money fast till I finally got to my goal and even past it a little. The skill to never give up no matter how long it took, all the first failures, the money me and my mom wasted I didn't give up till I reached that goal and felt that I finally did a dent on this thing.

5) Times well I haven't given it much thought about which format I've been using lately but considering it's been used so many times and It's a classic writing I may just keep it the way it is. Considering I'm selling chocolate and stuff the old fashion way walking and asking instead of through a phone I'll keep as it is, it kind a describes of what I am old school. The kind that still is around the one that helps people out in times of need.

Part 4 : achieve the goal

1)   Well I went from donating to an organization,  to donating to a single teacher. I also changed from making a donation box to start selling to people I sell candy and they give me money easy business. Well I changed from the organization to the teacher from the asking of my homeroom teacher Mr. Cabrera. And when he asked me to change it, ti was a good idea I will be donating to a person I know not a stranger, plus I only have to do it on one person. Right now the donation is going great now if only I knew how to give the money to her in person considering I got no idea where, she is.
120 words

2)  Yes in order to make my project much easier and more affective I switched from organization to one person. An, and treats from donation box to collecting money from selling candy. Well it's very affective considering I had nothing for the organization my project was going nowhere, once I change it to Ms. Castellano my project started going somewhere, it went slowly like a toddler learning to walk, then it slowly speed up. First I started out with just a penny from the donation box a made, went nowhere with that then after the weekend I bought some chocolate, and some "rice Krispy treats" within the first day I made 26 dollars easy once I went thought the school days I made 67 dollars. That's when I barely realized if I started this a month earlier I could have had twice to three times the money I could have when I sold all of this so I'm disappointed in myself but still glad I’m doing this.
 167 words

3)    On what I have completed and what I will complete I give myself an 82% considering I know I could have done this earlier yet I didn't could have made twice as much if I started out earlier yet I deserve a little credit for doing as much as I could a normal guy would have just gotten money out of his own pocket and say he earned it by doing work and fake donate. I'm collecting and gathering money and my peers are living proof that I am. What my supervisor thinks is maybe around what I just put maybe more for taking his advice and do this project for Ms. Castellano so maybe give me an 80 to 90 hopefully a passing grade.
